Blown glass
In the summer of 2022, Tamara Barrage has been invited by House of Today to spend three weeks at Schloss Hollenegg, a castle in Austria reaching back to the 12th century. There, she engaged in a residency with a specific focus on glasswork, where she designed and produced a modern interpretation of an 18th-century candelabra found at the entrance of the castle.
The piece pays homage to an object that was once the primary source of interior light, illuminating walls, tables, ceilings, and floors, and ranging from opulent chandeliers to single candle holders but has now become an object we mainly use for ambiance, illuminating special occasions.
