Biography
Karim + Elias
Karim + Elias is a multidisciplinary design studio creatively exploring sand — one of the most abundant and versatile natural materials.
Both Lebanese nationals, the two graduated together from the Lebanese American University (LAU) with a Bachelor's Degree in Architecture in 2016, and have since worked closely together. The duo has synergized years of individual expertise in the fields of fine arts, interior and product design, architecture, site-specific installations, digital design and mural artworks to launch their focused venture.
In their practice, they strive to create a flow of communication between context and time, where storytelling is paramount in their creative process. Sand has existed timelessly, and in many ways draws a historical and emotional value universally. They are on a mission to push the potential and narrative of the material through art and design, beginning with IOTA; a grand scale installation scheduled to debut at Downtown Design 2022.
