House of Today is a non-profit organization, committed to cultivating a sustainable design ecosystem in Lebanon, that transcends international borders. For over a decade, the organization’s overarching aim is to strengthen dialogues in the design world, expanding the reach of contemporary Lebanese designers and their creative processes, through mentoring and educating, curating collections and nurturing connections.
Layal Chacar is a passionate multi-disciplinary designer, a determinate
problem-solver and a curious soul with a fascination for human beings,
behaviors, environments and experiences.
Having been awarded a scholarship from House of Today, she holds
a Bachelor in Product Design and a Masters in Global Design (summa cum laude) from Académie Libanaise des Beaux Arts (ALBA).
She strongly believes in design as a co-creative human-centered tool
to better people’s lives and create sustainable positive impact.
Practically, Layal’s work experience consists of strategic design-thinking
consultancy, participatory design projects, products, interior and branding.
She has collaborated with multiple United Nations Agencies such as UNIC Beirut, UNFPA and ILO, as well as other private enterprises.
In more personal projects, she likes to bridge between design, installation and
performance arts.
Layal recently completed the full 42k marathon to raise awareness about
mental health and was awarded by Beirut Marathon’s 542 program
“Most Valuable Runner” of her team for October.
